Ray Kurzweil - The Singularity
Some trans-humanist devotees may know about what 'The Singularity' means. It is the term coined for when the world has changed so much that it is incomprehensible for the previous generation. The singularity is expected to happen by 2045 according to Ray Kurzweil who is a famous analyst with many correct predictions. His next prediction however is one of the biggest ones he's made yet.
To define what exactly the Singularity will be, Kurzweil has said that it will be the moment where we will be able to link our brains to the cloud. In simple terms that means linking our brains to the internet which we can see has already kick started with Elon Musks newest company - 'Neuralink.' Ray also said that by 2023 we will have passed the Turing test which is a test designed to prove the quality of our AI.
If the Singularity were to actually happen as Kurzweil predicts it will then to provide some context, that means that we will be able to upload and import information too and from the internet which when thought about is an amazing leap for humanity. This will mean that maybe all the information needed to be a doctor can just be stuffed into the brain although again, not being an expert I can't promise you what the Singularity will entail but I can assure extreme technological advancement.
Finally my thoughts. I completely love the idea of our brain being connected to the cloud but I honestly don't believe that it will happen by 2045 simply due to the technological struggles. The brain contains an insane amount of information that changes every second. We still cant reliably even read the brains signals yet and we probably wont be able to for a long time. Again even though I love the idea and hope that it can come to fruition as soon as possible. I don't believe in the date set by Kurzweil to be accurate yet I do believe in the 'Singularity' being possible.
